Coffee capsules are small, one-dose containers for preparing coffee. Capsules come in different shapes and materials.

Among the most famous are the capsules from French coffee maker Nespresso. They have an almost monopolistic position in the market.

However, there are alternatives. And if you're looking for a capsule machine, please read on. You might want to consider other options.

This year, Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE), invites the coffee world to meet at the 7th World Cup tasting Championship from June 23 to 25th at Olympia in London, UK.

Cup tasting is the art of testing and determining different characteristics in a coffee. You can easily compare it to wine tasting. Cup tasters, or cuppers as they are called, oftentimes work at coffee importers and help determine which coffees to buy. Thus, the skill of choosing a good coffee is very important to the coffee business as a whole.

To make a good cup of espresso, you need to know a few basic things. And then it comes down to practice and experience. A lot of the finesse in making good espresso comes from the passion involved, the experience, the non-tangible things that you 'just know'. Of course, without the basics, there's no room for finesse.

In this post, you'll learn about 10 things that must be in place to get a good result in the cup.

Drinking coffee is more than just inducing caffeine into your system. It’s so much more: Socially, historically, culturally.

People all over the world meet over a cup of coffee to socialize. And we’ve done it for centuries. In Norway, it’s impolite not to offer a visitor a cup of coffee. No matter if the visit was a wanted one or not ;) Coffee is a social mediator, something which makes the conversation run smoother and keeps you awake if it draws out…

That’s why I always say that coffee shop owners are not in the coffee business. They’re in the business of creating good times for people. They’re in the business of creating a mood. Oftentimes they’re the people who start the day for people. Or meet them in their busiest time of day. Or when they need to relax and get their mind off something.

If you’re a coffee shop owner, consider this fact again: You are not in the coffee business. And when you realize it’s true: Make your customers appreciate the fact that you know it.

This review actually starts with a sad story. Well, sort of.

A couple of years ago, I bought a used Isomac Mondiale. I was told it had mostly been standing in a company’s cantina, seldom being used. Long story short; I’ve had lots of problems with it and it turns out it has actually been used a lot, and also been carried almost daily between the cantina and other places.

After having fixed it (costly) twice, I have given up. So, for a fairly long time now I have been without an espresso machine. Yes, that is the sad part.
